Avis Europe look to quadruple outlets in China
Comparison Car Rental partner Avis Europe have recently announced their plans for expansion in China.
While sales in its home market have stalled, Europe’s second largest car hire company look to increase their 46 percent supply chain in the country through a joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. With 26 stations already there the plans are to raise the number to over 100 in the next 2 years.
Avis are looking to target emerging markets where car hire isn’t as common in other part of the World and where there is an opportunity for economic growth. Predictions show that China’s economy is likely to grow by 9 percent this year with similar figures showing in India as well. That compares with Europe’s predictions as low as less than 1 percent.
Group sales fell around 15 percent last year with only 1 percent of sales coming from countries outside of Europe.
